About the Minnesota Stroke Registry
In June 2007, the Minnesota Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (HDSP) Unit at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) received a grant from the CDC to implement the Minnesota Stroke Registry. The HDSP Unit partnered with the University of Minnesota to apply for this grant award.
Specific aims of the Minnesota Stroke Registry are:
- Identify all patients seen in emergency departments presenting with possible acute stroke in Minnesota hospitals.
- Collect data on quality of care indicators concurrent with patient care, and transmit these data to a centralized, web-based registry database.
- Promote and support quality improvement activities, interventions, and systems-level changes at each registry site.
